1967…

Fifty years ago the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture was created. Originally, the mission of the foundation focused on research about agricultural mechanization and technology.

However, in 2006, in response to industry advances and assessment of continuing needs, the Foundation sharpened its focus to its educational mission.

Today our mission is centered on agricultural literacy!

Our mission to build awareness, understanding and a positive public perception of agriculture through education is our driving force as we create new resources and programs to create a more agriculturally literate citizenry.

How do we define ag literacy?

In 2013 the Foundation set off to define what an agriculturally literate population looked like. That is how we created our Pillars of Ag Literacy. These Pillars help us define the need for educational resources.

Each year we continue to create educational resources that address a need for ag literacy. We have been able to continue this work for 50 years thanks to our generous supporters.

Please consider making a donation to the Foundation.

Let’s keep going! 50 years and growing!
