At Home Learning - Earth Day 2021

April 22nd is Earth Day learn how farmers are working to take care of the land.

Welcome to our At Home Learning Page!

We will do our best to offer weekly ideas for at home learning about agriculture!

These activities will all be free to access and share. Our weekly activities do not build on each other, but are individual and can be done in any order.

This week we are celebrating the EARTH! April 22nd is Earth Day. Find out how farmers are working to keep our soil and water healthy.

Read 4 Ways Farmers Steward the Land together.

Purple Plow Puzzlers are meant for older students, but these two, with the help of an adult, could be fun options!

Make something useful: Repurpose a plastic bottle to develop a useful new product.

Water ways: Students will design a "water" pipeline from paper towel rolls that transports a golf ball (water) across the classroom. Set up protected ecosystems in the classroom that students must avoid.

Play a game!

Keys to Stewardship - learn about how farmers use natural resources

Thrive - learn how farmers keep soil healthy

Do an erosion experiment! If you feel ambitious, you can set it up yourself with these instructions. OR you can watch someone do the experiment here.

Test your knowledge with this conservation word scramble .

Make a list of easy things you can do at home like turning off water when you brush your teeth, recycling, turning off lights when you aren't in the room etc. Make it colorful and post it on your fridge so you can keep reminding yourself.
