On April 25-27, 2015 the foundation participated in the 3rd Annual USA Science & Engineering Festival in Washington, D.C. Friday, April 25th was a special preview day for teachers and students, as well as military families and government officials.
On April 26-27 the festival was open to the public free of charge! Our ‘Growing the World’ exhibit included “make and take” activities for kids, a “meet the farmer” area, book readings by The Beeman author Laurie Krebs, and My American Farm game kiosks.
Also as part of our booth, Pennsylvania Farm Bureau brought a Mobile Ag Science Lab containing 12 work stations where children learned about agriculture while completing hands-on experiments. Over 300,000 people attended this event, the only national science festival in the country! Thousands of visitors to our booth learned how farmers and ranchers care for the land and where their food comes from, all while discovering how science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) is used every day in food, fiber, and fuel production.
