One of the ways the Foundation strives to achieve our mission to create an agriculturally literate society is by recommending books for use as additional resources or centerpieces of a curriculum. Because of the emphasis on early reading and the realization that stereotypes and misconceptions about producers and agriculture begin early in life, we have developed a recommended reading list posted below.
Lessons and activities have been developed to encourage the use of high-quality, accurate books about agriculture. Several of the books on the list now have accompanying material. These include: The Tree Farmer, A Seed in Need & I Drive a Tractor, The Farmers Market, Busy Barnyard, Soybeans in the Story of Agriculture, Soybeans an A-Z Book, and Pigs & Pork in the Story of Agriculture. All of which can be found by clicking Resource Orders at the top of this page.
