The Foundation’s Board of Directors is a strong and supportive group of agricultural literacy stakeholders that regularly reflects on our mission to build awareness, understanding and a positive public perception of agriculture through education.
“Securing Our Future” has been the ongoing theme of the foundation, and it aptly describes our role in the industry. This means that we need to build partnerships with donors in the agricultural community to support the projects of the foundation. Those projects include agricultural literacy, Ag in the Classroom, Leadership Development, Farm Safety and collaborating with our stakeholders within the Farm Bureau family.
Our board of directors provides the leadership for determining our goals for the year which include:
Promoting the newly developed curriculum that accompanies episodes of the America’s Heartland TV series.
Continuing to strengthen agricultural literacy among consumers through Ag in the Classroom projects.
Telling the story of agriculture through collaboration with agricultural leaders on the Accurate Ag Books project which provides children’s books about agriculture to schools and libraries.
Teacher scholarships to the National Ag in the Classroom Conference.
Mini-grants for Farm Bureau groups to increase ag literacy efforts in their communities.
As we continue to accomplish our mission of building ag awareness and understanding through education, we are currently restructuring our board of directors. Our goal in this effort is to improve stakeholder representation on the board. The new board will include a mix of Farm Bureau leaders and ag industry leaders, all of whom will unite to help the foundation set and achieve its goals.
